I think I'd have gotten along with him, as with most other carpenters, and fishermen. Probably he was paid for his woodworking, yes. I know nothing about neighborhoods of cities in Australia. Nor do I mean ever to make any implications about the presumed characters of people living in presumed good areas or bad areas, or neutral areas. Merle, as has been well noted here once by a forum member, it's not money which is evil, it is the "love" of it that is evil, or so says some section of the Bible. Now, in the basic Buddhist background of Zen practice, we learn that attachment is our problem. Attachment to all sorts of things, and especially to a presumed "self". But we often forget that attachment comes in TWO types: (1.) Attraction, and (2.) Aversion. If you love money, you are attached. If you hate money, you are attached. Such reactions even cause you now, personally, to begin to speak badly of a person you have not met, and have never even corresponded with. I just say, take a good look at that behavior. "Note" it. It's not ingrained in you, but you can cease it at any time. That's the miracle of our Humanity. You can resolve it all and absolve it by dropping everything; this can be accomplished through effective Zen practice. A teacher and a sangha can be a big help, there. Note that the teacher who you're speaking of teaches in Sydney at a typically spare and modest-looking facility, built personally by the sangha with their own hands. She teaches, too, on a visiting basis at another city, which I forget the name of. I don't even want to know what my own medical doctor M.D. charges per hour; usually I see him in 15-minute visits, at most, at check-ups. ;-) I'll just suppose you're clinging to your best protective excuses, and a back-up battery of personal attack smear-tactics, and will not email the teacher-artist. I'll grant that you must have your reasons, and I won't mention this topic again. When your mind is made up... well, that's ALL that anyone can accurately say about it! It's made-up: a total fiction, Merle. There you have "Zen", in a flash-picture snapshot; There are infinitely many others. (Live the full-frame video HD version, though. The teacher-artist could help, there). --Joe > Merle Lester wrote: > > the payment to see the diamond lady is $120..for one hour... > > i am thinking the average person does not have that in their wallet... > > does she offer help for the needy?... > > mosman is an exclusive suburb of sydney...very exclusive... > > who's going to go there?... > > those with pockets full of loot and "problems"..manifested because they have > too much loot and too much time on their hands.. > > mainly i bet middle class women who's hubby brings in the pay cheque and they > have nothing better to do .. > > cynical yes!... > > i ask again the question why did not jesus charge for his teachings?...
