Charles, I'm butting in here (and in truth Edgar has probably already responded somewhere 'up there' in the post I haven't read yet) but you're pointing out a very interesting point - at least one I have noticed for a long time.
Edgar seems to view Mathematics and Science (all expressions of Reason) like Absolutes - like a God. He sees them everywhere; they 'talk' to him; and he believes they are the be-all and end-all of reality. That's in fact why I've said before on this forum that Science is just another religion - a faith-based system based on the absolute belief in reason, logic and cause-and-effect.
