Merle,

Merle the Art-Teacher, says no Teachers are necessary. Quick, where's the puke
receptacle?

Teachers are needed. Else, you do not learn proper methods. And you have
"nothing to push against".

In our tradition, one needs a Dharma Friend / Antagonist.

And, in general, Humans require others.

Don't believe correspondents who claim that everything is OK, and no teachers
or practice are necessary. That is "Buji"-zen, which is not Zen at all. Such
claimants never awaken, but remain holding their teddy-bear of mere-logic or
protest, unto death (do-they-never-part). Alas. Alack. And a lot LESS than
the crack themselves up to be.

Follow your nose.
