Hello Jody,

A captive bred tropical snake, would not seem to do well in the wild,
especially here in New York. I don't think my neighbors would like it too
much either :o) Also by obsolving myself of this karma, it would seem that I
am just passing the buck to someone else, as letting a Boa go here in New
York could become quite dangerous. So the only alternative would be to allow
someone else to care for the snake, but the same issue that I have resides
for that person.

This reminds me of the story I heard a while ago, where a man had a mouse
that was being attacked by a cat. He stopped the cat and took the mouse into
his home and carefully tended to its wounds. He fed the little mouse until
it was back in tip top shape. Since the mouse was healthy and no longer need
the man's care, the man brought the mouse back outside, and set it free. As
he watched the small mouse happily drifting off into the brush, a bird
swooped down and snatched it...killing it instantly.

Fudo seems to be correct. Life does, what life does, and by choosing to care
for the snake, I must do what I must for it. If I did not choose to care for
it, but it came to me, then to care for it would be my karma.

Thank you,

-Demian

: I read about a Buddhist ceremony where captive animals are released back
to
: nature. Perhaps the answer here is to release the snake AND the mouse so
: they will both be free.
