Hello Demian,

Yes you are right about letting the snake go in NY. Someone did let a snake
go here in south Florida and it was found on the side of the road. It was
15 feet long! It took six men to carry it away. I imagine it is in a zoo
by now. I would worry about small dogs and children with that one! Then
here in Florida the same thing is true of alligators.

Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute is located just up the road from here.
They rescued a dolphin several years ago. It had been attacked by a bull
shark. This was unusual because dolphin usually travel in pods and the pod
will run a shark off. This dolphin had only one partner. While the dolphin
was being cared for at the Institute, his partner stayed close by in open
water. After six months of care (at a cost of over $150,000) the dolphin
was released back to join his partner. Within one month of release the
dolphin was found dead. He had choked on a fish!
Perhaps mankind should learn something from Darwin and leave nature to
nature. We've already learned that beached ocean mammals are usually sick
and that is why they beach themselves in the first place.

Nature is nature.
