They are important parts of major religions (Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism). I don't think the point was that those are "religions" that promise enlightenment. They are areas of study or practice within the most popular religions on Earth in which the phenomena of enlightenment has been experienced. Mother Theresa's, people that devot their lives to helping others and nothing else are only necessary when other people won't help at all. If everyone just helped a little, it would be fine. Buddhism NEVER taught us to be singular individuals of overpowering compassion and sacrifice. It teaches us to simply be. It teaches how to do our part. And by simply being a compassionate person amidst an everyday working-man's life, we end up doing more than our share. Middle way, remember? And, as a side note, falling from heated debate to outright insult is degrading to the "most aware", enlightened Buddhism you presumably belong to. Pithy argument against, well, anything is a blatant ignorance of the very compassion Buddha wanted us to embrace. Oh, and it's "None of those sects ARE major religionS." You missed the point, but at least you could be mistaken with grammatical accuracy. ------------------------ Yahoo! Groups Sponsor --------------------~--> $9.95 domain names from Yahoo!.
