There is no Zen apart from Zen Buddhism, and yes
there are temples, monasteries and centers. Whilst they may or may not be
'needed' in some sense, I often find that those who say there is no need for a
teacher, temple or practice come to that, have not yet understood that Zen
training is not something that happens by reading a few misinformed
books.
