Personally, I wouldn't have risked the discomfort of my family (maybe
they're less enlightened than yours) -- and would have settled for one
person missing from the photo.

Yes, your commune with the bums, your unique insight into the plight of
man, his universal bond of brotherhood, and the intertwining nature of
all our kindness to one another has elevated your life to a higher plane
of seeing potentiality in those you meet.

The rest of us will handle the reality portion while you dream...

Subject: [Zen] Key West Bums

Yesterday my family visited Key West, and one of the popular tourist
destinations is the "Southernmost Point" in the USA, which features a
large marker painted in red at the end of Whitehead Street where it
meets the ocean.

As we posed for pictures a young panhandler walked up and asked if I
wanted him to take our pictures together. I gave him the digital camera
and walked over to the marker and he took a couple of photos.

Seeing that he was shirtless and missing some teeth, I gave him a dollar
for his kindness and he was very grateful and he gave me a warm hug.
Amazing how much positive energy I felt from this bum. As he hugged me,
I hoped that good would come to him.
