I also agree.
Though I still need a system to be up to date.
This is why I have now built it myself.
I'm still using the GUI part and I've patched it to at least disable
SSLv2 and SSLv3 in pound
by default and as I've already mentioned I've changed the default Ciphers.
I've compiled everything for 64bit and for Ubuntu, as I prefer Ubuntu
and it has a longer support term
than Debian.
Besides that I have not made any changes. So the functionality is still
the same, except it's a up to date pound
that enables you to disable SSLv2 and v3 and due to Ubuntu having a more
recent OpenSSL, all known
issues with the Debian Squeeze OpenSSL are now eliminated. And of course
TLS 1.2 is supported,
which is also not supported by pound/OpenSSL on Debian Squeeze.
I have not even patched anything from the original sources, as I do not
know if the ZenLB-Team
has actually patched anything from the original sources.
I have not really found time today for testing. Hope to get to it tomorrow.
If someone is interested in the Package I built, it is available at:
deb http://mirror.simplyroot.de/zenlb trusty main
Please do remember, that it is for Ubuntu 14.04 64bit.
All you have to do is install a minimal Ubuntu 14.04 and add this Repo
and install zenloadbalancer via
"apt-get install zenloadbalancer"
It should install all required dependencies.
Please also keep in mind, this is not tested yet and this Package was
built for personal use.
Of course I am happy for feedback. Not sure Emilio will be to happy if
this happens on this Mailinglist.
But you are welcome to PM me.
Don't get me wrong on the following, but maybe it would be good to ship
the components that ZenLB uses in separate packages, so they can be
updated separately if required.
One could also just ship a new pound which is either linked or shipped
together with a custom OpenSSL.
This would have already solved all issues in my opinion.
Let me add, it was interesting to repackage ZenLB and I think it was
worth the time.
If it helps anybody else, I'll be happy. If not, well it was still fun :)
