Well "yesterday" suffices for now. But the number printed by svn update will work for really fine-grained version information.

If you haven't recollected this device since you did svn update, give that a try. I'll see if we are doing anything wrong by going over your stack trace in detail, but I won't get to it until tomorrow.

What version of Zenoss are you using? We have improved the handling of latin-1 characters recently (in the svn trunk). If you are up for the adventure, you could try that.
