Hi, We are planning to monitor (performance monitor) windows and linux virtual hosts on a few esx 3.0.x servers, and at the same time monitor a few hp dl servers.
On the physical HP servers there is the hpsim on both linux and windows, so there is no problem there I guess.. Just ordinary snmp agent reading into Zenoss. But on the virtual servers there has been many suggestions in the forum. Put in snmp informant on every windows virtual host. Read directly from the ESX'es with vish(?) or snmp WMI on the virtual hosts.. I guess that thats what we will use to monitor services ans such But I see that ppl are trying a few different approaches on this, is there any "The Zenoss way" to go? When searching and browsing the forums there is a few started discussions thats dies out pretty fast. What thoughts do you have on this, how is the best way to go on with this. The preferred way seems to get all the information directly from VI or the ESX'es without any unsupported 3'rd part program on it. Or perhaps it isn't possible? Any ideas before we try to invent the wheel again, and probably not such a good wheel :) -- Regards Falk Sweden -------------------- m2f -------------------- Read this topic online here: http://community.zenoss.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=10706#10706 -------------------- m2f -------------------- _______________________________________________ zenoss-users mailing list [email protected] http://lists.zenoss.org/mailman/listinfo/zenoss-users
