While I'm not a Nagios user, I can say that WRT Zenoss stability, it seems to be very unstable till you get it set up correctly. Then it just keeps going. At least in my experience that has been what happens.

The problem of course is that getting it set up correctly seems to be an art of trial and error currently. It probably will not work right the first time you try, and it likely isn't going to be obvious how to fix it. Just look through the forums and IRC chat logs.

All that said, it's the easiest setup I've seen, especially with the VMWare image, but even on RHEL5 is quite simple (they really improved this with 2.x).

Read the manual, search the forums and expect to spend some time on IRC or forums/mailing list getting help(or paying Zenoss or someone else to just make it work for you).

If possible, I would appreciate whatever information you, as a current user of
Zenoss, might be able to provide aimed at comparing Zenoss to Nagios.

Feature-wise, not much can beat it. However, I have a
less-than-positive outlook on its stability at this point. Would love
to be proven wrong on that count.
