there is always the vmware appliance which will work with the free windows vmware server or player... i would recommend it in your situation that way you are up and working w/o too much hassle. or you could install from the RPM on RHEL or centos. the configuration isnt too bad, all you really need is SNMP and that is usually pretty straight froward. although you might want to monitor your remote stuff w/ SSH and install the remote monitoring package.
