This is Zenoss 2.1.1 but I've seen it in previous versions: when I delete a device that has a current, unacknowledged event, I first get a CLEAR on that event and then the event returns. At least for Critical /Status/Ping events; I haven't tested others yet.
Is the delete process not pushing some required message out to the running daemons?
