I want to monitor an instance of tomcat running on port 8080.

I first tried adding an IpService under the OS tab of the device. The service
I chose was tcp_08081 (there was no tcp_08080). I clicked the link for the
newly added service and on the Status tab, I set the port then tried to modify
the name and description to something sensible indicating what the tomcat
instance does on that particular machine. When I clicked the save button, the
description and name reverted to the original description and name. I was
expecting the name and description to be something I could override locally at
the device level. If so, the behavior I see is potentially a bug. If not,
perhaps the name and description fields should not be editable on the Status
tab. The port change was properly retained.

In an attempt to see if I could set up a suitable name & description for a
service I created a new IpService class called "testipservice", with service
keys tcp_08080 and upd_08080, port of 8080, with a description of "Test IP
Service". When I tried to add my new IpService under the OS tab of the device,
it failed with Zenoss saying "Could not find an IpService named testipservice".
The testipservice class is in /Services/IpService. It is listed in the popup
window that comes up when "Add IpService" is selected on the OS tab, so it
seems to be in the right place.

What is the correct way to do what I'm trying to do?

Thanks
Wayne
