I ran through the following steps that you had me to before and ran the zenperfsnmp but I still did not see a RaidStatus. Once you create the template is there a something else that I should be doing other then binding the template with the device? perhaps telling Zenoss which data sources correspond to which threshold? I'm not sure it has got to be something really simple that I am missing.

I agree that there must be something simple here that we're missing. You say that you created the 14 data sources, one for each drive in this RaidStatus template with the specific OID in each one of the data sources. Did you also create a GAUGE type data point within each one of these data sources that has the same name as the data source?

Some data sources types are able to return multiple data points per data sources. SNMP is not one of these, but you still need to define the data point to have Zenoss store the retrieved value.
