I'm in the exact same boat. I have a large number of devices that are not SNMP enabled, or that I do not care to open SNMP up on that zenoss either does not register changes for when they are down or simply does not send alerts when the devices are down. I have seen lots of threads covering this or similar issues, but so far haven't found a single thread that actually has an answer in it. Kind of strange - I can only assume that network monitoring isn't really the main focus on zenoss.
