I've been doing a little digging and I *think* the issue is that zenoss doesn't really know what to do with the an interface name that starts with vmnet. there appears to be some special code for Linux tun devices in $ZENHOME/Products/DataCollector/plugins/zenoss/snmp/InterfaceMap.py - around line 163.
Perhaps something similar is needed for vmnet's?
