I have found a lot of (unanswered) questions about network, host and
services dependencies. By posting this message I hope to get more
attention for dependency checking in zenoss.
In trac I found:

Ticket #1007 is for user-defined dependencies between arbitrary
dependencies between monitored components. Zenoss already has layer 3
topology dependency built-in using the information it has collected
about your devices' network interfaces and routes. The first section
of chapter 11 (Availability Monitoring) discusses this feature.
