I'm looking for some best practices/how to info. Yes, I have the admin guide. Yes, I have been searching the mailing list/forum archive. I just need a little helping hand getting going. Trying to optimize my effort.
I have setup Zenoss, 2.2.4 on a Debian box, outside of my network. I have managed to get logged, change the password, created additional users, and add my locations so far. I am not interested in auto discovery. I want to monitor several services as well as hardware statistics on servers at the corp offices. I've downloaded the Zenpacks I need for that. Installing them next. I want to monitor a few different services on the linux servers at each job site as well the verify the VPN tunnel to the corp network is connected. My VPN appliances (WatchGuard) does not do snmp, just syslog apparently. I really wish the default install of Zenoss came with some bogus config data. Make it a lot easier to get going with some examples. Currently I am using Nagios but I am also looking at OpenNMS, Hyperic, and Groundwork. I'm leaning towards Zenoss due to the Google Maps interface. Specifically because it is an easy to understand interface for the Senior VP, Pres/CEO to use. Any advise for someone new? -------------------- m2f -------------------- Read this topic online here: http://forums.zenoss.com/viewtopic.php?p=26472#26472 -------------------- m2f -------------------- _______________________________________________ zenoss-users mailing list [email protected] http://lists.zenoss.org/mailman/listinfo/zenoss-users
