I'm not able to find much documentation about this feature and the docs still state it as a Future Use item...is this working? Can this be used to assign a machine to multiple Device Classes?
I had considered using separate device classes for this, but rejected it because we have such a mix of equipment/systems here. For instance, a server might be classified as /Device/Server/Linux, or /Device/Server/Apache, or /Device/Server/Windows, or /Device/Server/Windows/IIS, etc. (and each class has it's own unique sets of templates). The machines under each of the Device Classes may or may not be a Dell, and they could be one of several versions of Dell. Having to maintain Dell Device Classes under each of those will quickly become a management nightmare. My main example is for Dells, but we've encountered a few other times where we would need to dynamically assign templates that wouldn't be associated with Products. Generally the only way you would know which templates to assign is by looking up one or more OIDs.
