I deleted the device, and re-created it, making sure it was of the class 
/Devices/Server/Darwin (there is no Mac OS, and Darwin is the name for Mac OS 
X-as-UNIX). The resulting log said Zenoss was happy to add the device, but 
still SNMP shows as down.

I'll harass my administrator.
