Does any information about current bandwidth usage get piped to your machine's syslog? ZenOSS can only accept the syslog messages that your system generates, so if it doesn't generate any messages about bandwidth usage, ZenOSS has nothing to work with.
The most common way of monitoring interface usage is via SNMP. Net-snmp and ZenOSS provide this functionality out of the box.
