You probably do need to specify zWinUser and zWinPassword for your Windows systems for WMI to connect, these generally need to be admin accounts on the target Windows systems, but the FAQ does provide guidance on using limited users, it's pretty painful from what I gather from recent forum threads. You should be able to create a local copy of any of the templates, then you could edit them. Alternatively, you could also just unbind the templates.
