Online calendar provides news on international access to information and transparency events
Posted on: 04/02/2009 Access to Information Region: Worldwide The U.S.-based Carter Center, committed to advancing human rights worldwide, is hosting an International Access to Information and Transparency Events Calendar of events, conferences, workshops, summits, retreats, and training sessions worldwide. The calendar comes in response to one of the action points in the Atlanta Declaration and Plan of Action for the Advancement of the Right of Access to Information. The Center features a Web page dedicated to reports on topics and projects related to the regulation and implementation of the right to information in countries including Bolivia and Nicaragua in Latin America, Jamaica in the Caribbean, and Mali in Africa. The site also allows users to access its archives. A series of reports on the right to public information is available on the Web site of the Carter Center, an institution founded by former U.S. president Jimmy Carter.
