On My Brother's Birthday
Little brother, puppy eyes
Bony body, 'need-you' cries
Tiny paws, clutching my skirt
Scared of school, timid of heart
Little brother, you are what? 40?
Why then, I must be pushing 50!
You mean we're both into middle-age?
Rambling, like Dr. Das, from tale to tale?
Little brother, puppy eyes
Brawny body, full-blown surprise!
Firmly in place, you hold me, grinning
'You grew up!', I cry, accusing
'It's not fair, I wasn't looking!'
Eyes sheathed
To hundred counting
Are'nt we still Hide-n-Seeking?
