I followed the instrunctions from here
http://docs.zotonic.com/en/latest/developer-guide/getting-started.html

# pkg install sudo zip wget bash gmake curl git gcc curl
# pkg install ImageMagick7-nox11
# pkg install erlang-runtime22

you will need also to update your path for erlang.
I updated .profile by adding this line
PATH=$PATH:/usr/local/lib/erlang22/bin; export PATH

I built with *gmake *not make
$ cd zotonic
$ gmake
$ bin/zotonic debug

here are all my packages in the jail
