This is the 64-bit vs. 32-bit aolserver vs tcl problem people have mentioned in regard to 4.0.10 and 4.5 (4.0.1 compiles out of the box).

Someone who has this working might want to post it up on the wiki, and we'll probably want to post the solution on the openacs wiki, too.

My understanding is that compiling tcl with 64 bit enabled solves the problem, but haven't followed too closely because 1) my recent purchase of a macbook pro was a bit spontaneous due to the version that was current about 4 weeks ago showing up refurbished for $1450 (they still have some left, last time I looked) , I'd ignored the problem before 'cause I was running a G4 powerbook and 2) I've been running 4.0.1 on my development machines anyway, being too lazy to upgrade, and our production machines are running 4.0.10 but under 32- bit linux.
