The 10 channels mentioned so frequently are actually just the speaker-level outputs of the passive crossovers (which are inside the factory amp box, arguably not a very good place for them). BMW calling it 10-channel is an example of "peak marketing." ) located behind the carpet on the left corner of the trunk, and 10 speakers: . Two 5.25" midbass in the front kick panels. . Two 3/4" tweeters in the door pillars and two 2.5" midrange in the dash. . Two 5.25" midbass and two 3/4" tweeters in the rear shelf. I replaced mine with JBL component speakers and I installed some 6.5 at the back. http://www.bmwe34.net/e34main/upgrade/speakers.htm Bruno Webmaster of the BMW E34 Website: www.bmwe34.net ----- Original Message ----- From: "Steve Albrecht" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Monday, October 25, 2004 11:45 AM Subject: [UUC] Speakers > A friend is asking about the speakers in his '91 E34 535i. Upon restate it immediately ran really rough, would barely hold an idle, and the check engine light was on. When an attempt was made to place it in reverse it stalled again. Again it restated, but the idle stumbled to the point of cutting out completely and then would not restate. Having to get to work I took the other car and left it as is. Was anticipating troubleshooting the following over the weekend – electrical components such as the main relay, individual coil-packs, battery & charging system, and visible ground wiring; fuel system elements like the fuel pump pressure, idle control valve, fuel pressure regulator; and was also going to look for the existence of vacuum leaks or restrictions in the air delivery system. Guess what, after sitting for about 10 hours, I hopped back in, fired it up, and it ran perfect with no check light! I tried the 5-second accelerator stomp test looking for trouble codes but that never does work for me. After shutting it off I pulled the main relay and it is free of corrosion and was tight in the box. I have replaced the oxygen sensor within the last 10k miles. What gives? I’ve seen this condition mentioned before but never paid attention to the responses. Have others experienced a similar situation and if so what was the answer? Should I expect a repeat performance? What can I be looking at now to head off future trouble? Any and all input will be helpful. Thanks in advance to those willing to help. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 25 Oct 2004 09:32:48 -0700 From: "JS Nord" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: 1994 e34 525i Ran Like Cr*p, Now is Fine Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Cold run sensor intermittant? >From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] >To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] >Subject: [UUC] 1994 e34 525i Ran Like Cr*p, Now is Fine >Date: Mon, 25 Oct 2004 11:06:22 -0500 > > > > > >The issue involves my 525i which stalled while backing out of the garage >last Friday morning. If so, I'd be curious to hear your thoughts. My shocks are toast and I've already decided to replace them with Konis for adjustability, but I'm on the fence on going with the coilovers. They look like an excellent product, and after dealing with several suboptimal aftermarket suspensions I like the idea of ride height adjustability. But what about reliability/ other intangibles? Car is a daily-driven street (city) car. TIA, --SC __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail Address AutoComplete - You start. Does anyone have a source for these (and parking brake boot too, if possible?) Both boots on my E36 are torn, and I'm interested in some new ones.
