The Bentley manuals are designed for we DIY consumers, without the assumption of previous factory training. FSMs are a nice thing to have as a second source of info. It's a little prong thingy that reads each "tooth" on the hub as it goes by (via Hall-effect sensor, I believe). Since the sensors are magnetic, they tend to collect crap, particularly if you are using metallic brake pads. Then see what happens. - Mark ----- [EMAIL PROTECTED] Check out my JustRacing Home Page at: http://www.justracing.com/homepage/mdadgar ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 15 Jun 2006 15:30:35 -0400 From: "Michael Lawrence" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <bmwuucdigest@uucdigest.com> Subject: Re: ABS question Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Be careful or be prepared to replace a rear sensor, they can be quite tough to get out of they are the orginal sensors. This has happened on 2 M3's I have driven on track. Also be very careful when tracking a M3 and the ABS light comes on = no ABS. In stock form they tend to have a more reward brake bias than some are used to, 1 or 2 rear wheels locking up can create some fun moments on track when unexpected. The ABS computer is located behind the glove box. You can access it by removing the glovebox. After unplugging it, you can then do some simple tests with a volt meter for continuity to give you an idea of where the problem is. I believe the wiring schematic and procedure was in the Bentley manual. I'll have to see if I still have the URL that I found the information in... -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Mark Dadgar Sent: Thursday, June 15, 2006 1:23 PM To: bmwuucdigest@uucdigest.com Subject: Re: [UUC] ABS question On Jun 15, 2006, at 9:50 AM, Bill Mitchell wrote: > I returned from tracking my '95 M3 two weeks ago, put the street > tires/wheels/rotors/pads back on, and the next time I drove it theABS > light came on and has never gone off.
