I have texinfo 4.13 installed using MacPorts on Mac OS X 10.6.3. When
invoking the info reader from the command line the menu items in various
modes are not displayed.

Apparently it wasn't reproducible for them either. And you've already
tried all the things that come to mind -- terminal colors, etc. -- so
I'm at a loss. Does info --no-raw-escapes do anything for you? (My
guess is that it will make things worse, but I can't think of anything else.)
Perhaps it will magically fix itself in the next release :(.
