Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge (MNWR) and Montezuma Wetlands Complex (MWC)
------------

     5/17: Two adult and two juvinile SANDHILL CRANES were seen from Carncross 
Road.
     5/18: KILLDEER, SPOTTED SANDPIPER, LEAST SANDPIPER, WILSON’S SNIPE, and 
GREATER and LESSER YELLOWLEGS were seen at the Visitor’s Center.
Eight CERULEAN WARBLERS and two PROTHONOTARY WARBLERS were seen on Armitage 
Road just past the bridge.
     5/19: BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER, RUDDY TURNSTONE, SEMI-PALMATED PLOVER and 
SANDPIPER, LEAST SANDPIPER, and DUNLIN were seen at Puddlers Marsh. Later in 
the day WILSON’S PHALAROPE were seen at the Visitor’s Center and Puddlers. A 
LEAST BITTERN was found at Marten’s Tract.
     5/20: Four WILSON’S PHALAROPES were seen at Puddler’s Marsh. Also seen 
were BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER, DUNLIN, LEAST SANDPIPER, LESSER YELLOWLEGS, 
SEMI-PALMATED PLOVER and SANDPIPER. Just outside the complex, a CLAY-COLORED 
SPARROW has returned for a second year to 2286 King Road north of Seneca Falls.
     5/21: All the previous shorebirds plus RED KNOT and BAIRD’S SANDPIPER were 
seen at Puddler’s. Also present were two GREAT EGRETS. 


Derby Hill
------------

     1,040 hawks were counted this week at Derby Hill. On 5/15 1,200 BRANT wer 
seen flying by.


Onondaga County
------------

     5/15: A pair of ORCHARD ORIOLES have returned to the Town of Van Buren at 
the corner of Perry and Breed Roads.
     5/16: a CERULEAN WARBLER was found at Whiskey Hollow but has not been 
heard since.
     5/19: Forty species of birds including ORCHARD ORIOLE were found at Green 
Lakes State Park. A LAUGHING GULL was seen at the north end of the creekwalk 
near Onondaga Lake.


Oswego County
------------

     5/15: Three COMMON NIGHTHAWKS wer seen at Mexico Point.
     5/17: 75 BRANT were seen at the bridge in Caughdenoy. 15 WHITE-WINGED 
SCOTERS and 2 BLACK TERNS were seen at Phillips Point on Oneida Lake.


Cayuga County
------------

     5/19: A RED-HEADED WOODPECKER was seen at the Sterling Nature Center.


Madison County
------------

     5/19: A RED-HEADED WOODPECKER was seen at a feeder near Sheds.
