Don't know how Sarg and the boys did it... But in my poor youth,, I would bolt a chain to head bolts on each side and use a pipe run through the loops.. one guy on each side sitting on the fenders .. Would lift the pipe t and set the oil pan on a 2X10 the lay on the rad support and extended to the ground, acted like a sliding board.. Then all we dis was slid it to the ground. . Yes it made a mess. I would drain the oil and remove the side block drain plug if I could...to minamize the clean up..
