So?  I fail to see how that's relevant.  See §2.5 of the Debian Policy.

There might be reasons to depend on gawk, but that seems irrelevant for
the case at hand.  Also these numbers are skewed since ‘Priority:
required’ packages don't need explicit unversioned Depends.

Anyway, did s/mawk/awk/ if that makes you happy…  We are only using
functions from the POSIX subset so any implementation should work,
including busybox's.
