This is something to be careful about: the goal is to have something that works OK and is fully complete. And mind that Variant 1 is not finished unless the events-dialog is finished too. Very useful in the current situation is that the user has a perfect overview of short cuts in use and available. As I understand the proposals, Variant 2 does offer that too. How's that for Variant 1? I didn't spot it in the design, but may have been looking too fast.
