Hi,

But wasn't NETWPIN (network PIN, based on the IMSI) from OTA OMA specs
dedicated exactly for the purpose to avoid such high-jacking and hence
ability to be able to set the settings as predefined.

yep, that was the intention... but it still in a more "weaker" scope, since the NEWPIN actually does "only" check if the user is not "accidently" accepting some send OTAs. It still does not specify a mechanism to pre-define the default profile, right?

We are brainstorming here what are the main factors limiting the boost
of MMS. It seems like absent or incorrect MMS settings (among
different phone capabilities for supporting MMS, MMSC
interconnections, etc.) takes very high rate. One of the reasons are
missing instructions from the operator support that user not only has
to accept settings, but also must switch to the received settings. And
another one is about users these days are changing phones (or SIM
cards or network operators) quite often.

right, agree'ing... most operators do know about these factors, since _they_ are generally the one who "lose" money due to the fact that users aren't able to send MMS.

Operators generally offer OTA config settup via their web site, in order to profile the devices for their network config. But it's considered "a weak help", due to the fact that users generally aren't aware "what" they need for configuration.

I'm curious to know what solutions to assure that most of the users
are able to send and receive MM are employed elsewhere, at least in
Germany or some other countries.

didn't get the point in this paragraph?

Stipe
