Hi Buddy I can thing of 2 things. Overheating .. not likely since usually the RF section shut downs.
RF getting into the power supply. Grounding might not make a difference. RF Chokes on the power supply DC cord might help. Oh, the 3rd thing, Is your power supply up to the task? Might it be failing? Throw a volt meter on it.
