It needs to be really quite crufty to be 32-bit only.
And would those guys be doing a bare-metal install, or would they be
updating to 2.8 on their existing Ubuntu Lucid machine and keeping the
same kernel?

The readme at https://github.com/NTULINUX/RTAI seems to strongly imply
that RTAI for 32 bit is now too hard.
