I would not go that far. While a lot of work still has to be done, it is my current opinion that LinuxCNC with PREEMPT_RT software step will have to run slower thread rates than with RTAI and performance will depend substantially on the particular system and 'tuning'. That said, software step-gen is still handy for a "zero-cost" way to play with LinuxCNC, even if it's slow. I think adding the Arduino should get the PREEMPT_RT solution to work as well (maybe better?) than the current software-step solution on RTAI. - -- Charles Steinkuehler char...@steinkuehler.net -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.11 (MingW32) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org/ iEYEARECAAYFAk+2SyMACgkQLywbqEHdNFxPJwCg8wYRIoK1JZmHzY1cMckT0gqI 0okAn2ZLs+6v3AjwYOx5UsWmgbwZU+WF =rLfS -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Live Security Virtual Conference Exclusive live event will cover all the ways today's security and threat landscape has changed and how IT managers can respond.
