Not at all. I took apart a joint on our fire-engine a few weeks back to find that I had already done the fix that I was thinking of, a few years ago. Actually, it's something worth knowing about. The tension in a screw is really only a function of the diameter, so you can get the same tension much more easily in a small screw at a lower torque than a big screw at a huge torque. So, why not just use a lot of small threads for the tightening? http://www.nord-lock.com/superbolt/multi-jackbolt-tensioners/ We had a 1.25" thread on the differential shaft that could only be operated with a pin spanner, and was never tight enough, so I made a nut with a ring of grub-screws in the supernut pattern. -- atp If you can't fix it, you don't own it. http://www.ifixit.com/Manifesto ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ _______________________________________________ Emc-users mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/emc-users
