Not at all. I took apart a joint on our fire-engine a few weeks back
to find that I had already done the fix that I was thinking of, a few
years ago.

Actually, it's something worth knowing about. The tension in a screw
is really only a function of the diameter, so you can get the same
tension much more easily in a small screw at a lower torque than a big
screw at a huge torque.
So, why not just use a lot of small threads for the tightening?

We had a 1.25" thread on the differential shaft that could only be
operated with a pin spanner, and was never tight enough, so I made a
nut with a ring of grub-screws in the supernut pattern.
