Well, now that I have all 3 servo amps connected to motors,
the whine is quite loud, and closing the cabinet makes
little difference. My ear protectors are designed not to
cut voice frequencies, so the 5 KHz goes right through
them! Ugh, they have got to go. I have verified that all 3
of them work, so I ought to be able to sell them on eBay.
The X axis is pretty well stuck, only the ballscrew is
strong enough to move it. I guess I will have to loosen the
gibs and try to lift and slide it off. Then, I'll be able
to get into the lube orifices.
So, a bit more of a job to retrofit than I had been hoping
for. Of course, depending on 40+ year old servo amps to keep
on working may not have been a great plan, anyway. I
ordered an AMC 30A20 servo amp (30 A peak, 200 V max) on
eBay, but I only found one at a reasonable price. Anybody
know where to look for servo amps? HGR didn't seem to have
much, but maybe I was using the wrong search terms.
Thanks,
Jon
