Inside the Italian proposal you can read the reasons of this budget. - As mentioned only Pycon Italia made 30,000 EUR from sponsors last year ( and it was a local conference.. we thinks we can do much better for Europython... ) - Also, as mentioned, the budgets is *flexible* and in case the sponsors venue is less than expected we should cut services ( like dinner, lunch... ) - Also, if you take a look at the fees, we kept them extremely low.. because we care about students and people that cannot pay 200 euros for a conference, but still very interested. As mentioned, if it's needed we can raise fees... - We inserted some alternative locations in case of "low sponsorship" venues, because it's always a good idea to have an alternative plan ;) ( For instance, the "Convitto della Calza" alternative location ( that can handle only 400 attendees ) at the proposal or "Istituto degli Innocenti" ( max 550 attendees ) costs less then half comparing to the values of the proposal... This because at Pycon Italia 2008 we made a mistake relying too much on the sponsors budget and not having many alternatives. So all the members of Python Italia "sponsored" the conference avoinding any correction of the fees. Fortunately at the end we found other sponsors and we had some extra money that sponsored Pycon Italia 2009, but honestly it was not very funny.... We don't want to have this situationa again! That's when we created the "sponsored talks" we mention at the proposal... to raise funds :) Last but not least, due to the City of Florence sponsorship we *can* have some discounts on the locations costs.. but we didn't mentioned that because it was not fair to base a proposal on promises and not real costs... We are working on that because we are negotiating/booking for Pycon Italia 2010 and that's why i've asked to decide the EP2011 as soon as we can... Fabio
