I think your points are valid Todd, but this happens every release cycle.  
Near the end, lots of people start screaming we are going to fast, the 
release cycle is too short, wait for this, wait for that, etc. etc..  This 
despite the fact that the release schedule was anounced on Cooker in January.  
The problem is that most of the people that read newbie or expert, and that 
participate in the Club forums, do not read cooker and subsequently don't 
understand the timing of releases, nor do they understand the meanings of the 
terms beta and release candidate.  i.e. most people think release candidate 
means that this release has a chance to be released as final if everything 
looks good, whereas Mandrake development really defines it as a feature 
freeze, but lot's of bug squashing still has to happen.

More communiation on this topic to the newbie and expert lists, as well as 
club postings would probably help in this area.
