I was able to login and the transfer of files began. Everytime I hit the
third file it stopped with that error. I tried three times before giving up
and each time the third file was a different one. After doing what Bongani
suggested to me on the Cooker list (urpmi.update -a -c -f //Updates all
databases) everything updated just fine.

My thanks to all who tried to help.
