If you are going to use an IPv6 network at home, you also need to read RFC 4193, as that is the IPv6 work-alike to RFC 1918. I have been using IPv6 at home for about 10 years, but the routers run by my ISP (Virgin Media) either reject IPv6 addresses or go into a state of catalepsy when they receive a packet with an IPv6 header.
