I seem to recall having a custom joboptions file that I always selected for PDFs.
I don't know how Adobe has changed Frame, but maybe this would work? -----Original Message----- From: Framers [mailto:framers-bounces+acraig=shaw...@lists.frameusers.com] On Behalf Of Orly Zimmerman Sent: April 11, 2021 12:19 AM To: framers@lists.frameusers.com Subject: [Framers] Save as PDF - Do not rely on System Fonts HI All, Allison's recent question - about the old SetPrint reminded me of a problem I currently have. I'm running FM2020 (from the Adobe Technical Suite) on a new HP EliteBook 84 G6 (Intel core i5-8265U @1.6GHz<mailto:i5@1.6GHz>) with 8GB of installed RAM. No problems with processing times or open pod issues. FM works fine, thank goodness. My problem: I use Kelson family fonts for my cover/back pages. These fonts, for some reason, don't embed in the file. When I quickly want to create a PDF, I'll use the "Save as PDF" File option. Invariably, the PDF conversion process (via Distiller) gets flushed. To solve the problem, I need to uncheck an option "Do not rely on system fonts" which can be found only in the Adobe Print settings. And I need to reset this each time I restart FM. Any ideas on how to avoid this slightly annoying problem. Many thanks! And have a great week, Orly >>Hi Alison, >> >>FrameMaker creates PDF files via Save As PDF with its own engine. >>The printer is not involved. This works very well. >> >>There can be requirements that you create the PDF via Distiller, but this is also automated. You can still use Save As PDF. >> >>You do not need to print to a PostScript file. >>SetPrint cannot be installed (FM 2020 is 64 bit) and is not needed. >>There isn't any headless Distiller in FM 2020. >> >>Best regards >> >>Winfried Orly Zimmerman Technical Communicator +972-5-4444-5748 www.xsightlabs.com<http://www.xsightlabs.com/> [Logo Description automatically generated] -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed...
