Our config is Splat R65 with ClusterXL - HA Mode.

In the R65 "Cluster XL Administration Guide", chapter 7, there's a 
section on "Defining Disconnected Interfaces".  You might want to
check the manual appropriate for your firmware version.

One method of dealing with a spare/down interface is the "discntd.if"
files others have mentioned.

The other method is to assign the spare/down interface IP addresses
(use dummy addresses if it doesn't have any configured addresses) then
define it in the cluster object as a "Non-Monitored Private" interface.
Then "cphaprob -a if" will show the interface as "Disconnected" rather
than "DOWN".

Cleaner than the file method I think.
