I don't know why, but my desktop is now connected to internet! The only thing I did was a reboot! Thanks a lot to you all who tried to help me. It was a hard way to obtain the solution. The problem was really a hardware one, not the cable, but just the little box connected to the wall socket for my connection to the router through the house electric circuit.
