I have never actually used Mandrake. I've heard good things about it on
the desktop. It's good to know that it has automated updates, though.

I've never really liked red-carpet. It's always seemed a bit
tempermental, especially on dependancy checking. I also wouldn't install
it on my servers. I have three different selections floppies. One for
desktop systems, one for laptops, and one for servers. Once the base is
installed and everything gets installed from the selections
floppy/apt-get, I manually install the system-specific pakages, usually
from source.
