            The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------

Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) today compared the '08 field to an "all boy's club"
while her campaign put out a web video showing the Democratic candidates
"piling on" Clinton during Tuesday night's debate.

Is Clinton playing the gender card to deflect attention from a lackluster
debate performance? Hardball's David Shuster will report on the latest reaction
from the campaigns and then host Chris Matthews will deliver the speech he
thinks Clinton should give to control any fallout from Tuesday. NBC Political
Director Chuck Todd and the National Journal's Linda Douglass will also give
you their thoughts on the action.

Critics claim that Clinton evaded a question during the debate about Gov.
Elliot Spitzer (D-NY)'s decision to issue licenses to illegal immigrants.
Tonight Spitzer will tell us what he thinks about Clinton's answer and the
national attention his plan has received.

Then, the Washington Post reports today that U.S. diplomats have challenged the
State Dept. on their orders to serve at the U.S. Embassy in Iraq. Rajiv
Chandrasekaran, who served as Baghdad Bureau for the paper and wrote "Imperial
Life in the Emerald City" about his experiences, will tell us what he's heard
about the latest conditions in Iraq.

Plus, why doesn't House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) "approve" of Congress? And
why did Clinton pull out of a Vogue magazine photo shoot?

We'll take a look at these stories and more in our roundtable discussion with
the Washington Post's Chris Cillizza, the American Prospect's Ezra Klein and
the San Francisco Chronicle's Carla Marinucci.
